Dive Deeper: A Miracle that Joins Faith and Fear

Throughout the Gospels, we as readers see miracle after miracle that Jesus performs to the crowds and to bring the Lord glory throughout the nations. These miracles are often times just seen as an event that happened, and lets praise God for it, then move on. Do you ever read deeper into the lesson that could be gained from the miracles that Jesus performed throughout His ministry years? There are deeper aspects to the working of the Lord that many times get passed over by in the Scriptures, because of the constant miracles that are happening throughout the Gospels. But, if all we do is look at the surface of something, then all we are ever going to get is surface leveled feeding from the Lord, but if we take the time to dive deeper and develop all that the Lord was doing then we can get the FULL FEEDING that the LORD wants to give us.

That is exactly what happened to me when reading over the miracle in Mark 5, I was reading over it and it just seemed like another miracle to me that would bring me to praise Jesus for all that He is capable of doing. But when I took it a step further, I saw a whole new lesson that could be gained from this amazing miracle.. Take a read at Mark 5:28-34:

28 For she said, “If I touch even his garments, I will be made well.” 29 And immediately the flow of blood dried up, and she felt in her body that she was healed of her disease. 30 And Jesus, perceiving in himself that power had gone out from him, immediately turned about in the crowd and said, “Who touched my garments?” 31 And his disciples said to him, “You see the crowd pressing around you, and yet you say, ‘Who touched me?’” 32 And he looked around to see who had done it. 33 But the woman, knowing what had happened to her, came in fear and trembling and fell down before him and told him the whole truth. 34 And he said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace, and be healed of your disease.” (Mark 5:28-34)

This woman was a battling something that was a CONSTANT struggle in her life, and she had the FAITH to know what the Lord’s power could do for her. So BY FAITH this woman went and touched Jesus’s garments to be healed of this disease that she has had for years, and because of HER FAITH she was HEALED. Faith is something that is something that needs to be built upon and acted upon throughout our day to day lives. If all we do is live in according to the Word and the Spirit of God without faith, then what are we really living by or for? Faith is built through people stepping out in belief knowing that the LORD is going to COME THROUGH. This woman ONLY had HER FAITH that drove her to step out and see if a healing may occur, but BECAUSE SHE STEPPED OUT, she WAS HEALED.

Faith in Jesus is something that EVERY believer needs to be driven by, and walk in, but we also develop a FEAR of the LORD. Just as verse 33 states after Jesus felt that some of the healing power was released from him, it states, “But the woman, knowing what had happened to her, came in fear and trembling and fell down before him and told him the whole truth.” As fear can lead people to faith, faith can lead us to healthy fear of the Lord. This woman was just HEALED of a disease that she has been battling for years, and once she got healed, it showed Jesus for who JESUS really IS. Jesus is a gracious and caring person but Jesus is also part of God and God is ALMIGHTY and SOVEREIGN over ALL NATIONS AND PEOPLE. Believers tend to lose sight that we should not just love God, but that we should also FEAR THE LORD. A healthy fear of the Lord, is to be driven to SERVE the Lord and know that the Lord is Lord, He is your Father, and He is going to DISCIPLINE HIS CHILDREN. We as children do not want to upset or disrupt our Father in the things He does or reck something of His, and that is why we are DRIVEN in the FEAR OF HIM to SERVE HIM WITH FAITH that HE is going to PROSPER.

“For the Lordthe Most High, is to be feared, a great king over all the earth.” (Psalm 47:2)

Faith is something that we can be DRIVEN BY, but the FEAR of the LORD is something that WE COME TO LIVE BY because as we live for the Lord, we come TO SEE HIM for WHO HE IS.

Jesus vs. Satan: They are NOTHING alike!

Jesus gives us the command to NOT speak blasphemy about the Holy Spirit, and if you do then you will NEVER be forgiven. What does that look like, or sound like? Or what does that mean? In the Gospel of Mark is where we find this command that Jesus gives us, but it is not the command that is the bulk of the message that Jesus is getting at, it is the parables right before the command.

“And the scribes who came down from Jerusalem were saying, “He is possessed by Beelzebul,” and “by the prince of demons he casts out the demons.” And he called them to him and said to them in parables, “How can Satan cast out Satan? If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. And if a house is divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand. And if Satan has risen up against himself and is divided, he cannot stand, but is coming to an end. But no one can enter a strong man’s house and plunder his goods, unless he first binds the strong man. Then indeed he may plunder his house.” Mark 3:22-27

These parables are the KEY to understanding the meat of what Jesus is trying to get across to the Scribes. Jesus makes that analogies about division and how one CAN NOT do or be the other. That is EXACTLY what Jesus is saying here. Satan CAN NOT cast out Satan, so DO NOT put that ability onto a God that is FOR THE GOOD of PEOPLE. A house that is divided WILL NOT last, because of the division that as occurred; same with a Kingdom.

For what Jesus is saying here, is that it is NOT the Son of Man who set spiritual forces into people, or divides Kingdom to watch them fall, or households to see them fail. The Son of Man is here is CAST OUT demons, and TO BUILD UP Kingdoms and Households for the Glory of the Lord. Satan can not stand against the power that the Lord has, and is here on Earth to destroy things, not to BUILD them up.

Because Jesus had VICTORY over the Satan in the wilderness, when Satan attempted to have Jesus become something that Jesus in not (Matt. 4:1-11), Satan is POWERLESS to preventing Jesus from relaying the Good News. Jesus is the POWER and the PRESENCE that BUILDS. Satan is the POWERLESS, that tries to DESTROY.

God or Jesus gave the scribes the command right after these parables, “that whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit (or God) never has forgiveness, but is guilty of eternal sin. (Mark 3:29) God doesn’t want to be attributed to the things of Satan that destroys or tempts, or that what the Holy Spirit is doing is not of God but of Satan. Call things as they are, if they are BUILDING, FULFILLING, OR OF THE WORD OF GOD, then they are GOD or the HOLY SPIRIT.

Do not put a label to something IS NOT the truth. Man does not like it, and either does the Almighty God.

“Or how can someone enter a strong man’s house (Satan and this World) and plunder his goods, unless he first binds the strong man (Jesus coming into this World & having Victory over Satan)?” Matthew 12:29

King Belshazzar Knew, and Still Followed

Then Daniel answered and said before the king, “Let your gifts be for yourself, and give your rewards to another. Nevertheless, I will read the writing to the king and make known to him the interpretation. O king, the Most High God gave Nebuchadnezzar your father kingship and greatness and glory and majesty. And because of the greatness that he gave him, all peoples, nations, and languages trembled and feared before him. Whom he would, he killed, and whom he would, he kept alive; whom he would, he raised up, and whom he would, he humbled. But when his heart was lifted up and his spirit was hardened so that he dealt proudly, he was brought down from his kingly throne, and his glory was taken from him. He was driven from among the children of mankind, and his mind was made like that of a beast, and his dwelling was with the wild donkeys. He was fed grass like an ox, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven, until he knew that the Most High God rules the kingdom of mankind and sets over it whom he will. And you his son, Belshazzar, have not humbled your heart, though you knew all this, but you have lifted up yourself against the Lord of heaven. And the vessels of his house have been brought in before you, and you and your lords, your wives, and your concubines have drunk wine from them. And you have praised the gods of silver and gold, of bronze, iron, wood, and stone, which do not see or hear or know, but the God in whose hand is your breath, and whose are all your ways, you have not honored. (Daniel 5:17-23)

Have you either walked down a path or through a door that did not lead anywhere but frustration and failure? But a door that every time it comes open you find yourself walking through? The door of pride? The door of porn? The door of going to far with your significant other? There are many other doors but those are only a few, but these doors that we tend to find failure behind we often find our selves coming back to.

Above you read a passage about how King Belshazzar knew about the PRIDEFUL legacy that his father, King Nebuchadnezzar had, which then ended in an humbling of the heart by the Lord. Belshazzar knew these things and the doors that lead to failure for his father, but HE STILL walked the same path as his father. Daniel opens his eyes to this in the beginning of the interpretation of the handwriting on the King’s wall, saying basically this, “what person or God are you following? Are you following the steps and legacy of your father who worshipped idols and became to proud for his own good? Or are you following a God, who GIVES you BREATH of LIFE and who LEADS to SUCCESS in HIM?”

The hard truth to all of this, is that we are King Belshazzar in many ways than not. Personally, I find myself running to the same doors that only lead to sin and death, and an avenue for the enemy to attack. It is not healthy and I do not know why I do it but this is the truth of the matter it DOES NOT DO ANY GOOD! So how do we stop running to the doors that are appetizing deceiving?

1. Worship God WHOLE-FULLY….

Daniel is a prime example of what this means to serve God whole-fully. By reading through Daniel, you will see a man that in EVERY situation good or bad, easy or hard will seek the Lord through it all. He will NOT MOVE until the Lord speaks to him in a way that will move him away from the wrong “doors.”

2. Watch the doors that you walk through or others, and KNOW if they HONOR God or DISHONOR Him…

Belshazzar knew exactly that the path he was walking through or going down was a path that lead no where good, because it was the same dishonoring path as his fathers. Everyone around you on a daily basis walks through doors that will either lead to death or life, if we watch there footsteps and not follow right away, we will learn what to do or not. The enemy is going to make doors that are deceivingly appetizing to you but lead no where, and they might be the same door that someone close to you went through too, lets not be BLIND to what is GOING ON AROUND US and FOLLOW the RIGHT LEGACIES.

This world is going to bring on doors that you get to choose to walk through or not, some leading to death and some leading to life. Some honoring the Lord greatly and some not honoring to God at all, but if you learn from your MISTAKES and FOLLOW the RIGHT legacies, God will show you the right paths. Do not walk through doors that just look pretty and appetizing to the eye, but walk through the doors that will bring you happiness, and honor to the God we serve.

Impossible Steps of Faith, Bring God to be a God of Possibilities

“Then Daniel went to his house and made the matter known to Hananiah,Mishael, and Azariah, his companions, 18 and told them to seek mercy from theGod of heaven concerning this mystery, so that Daniel and his companions might not be destroyed with the rest of the wise men of Babylon. 19 Then the mystery was revealed to Daniel in a vision of the night. Then Daniel blessed the God of heaven……The king declared to Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar, “Are you able to make known to me the dream that I have seen and its interpretation?” 27 Daniel answered the king and said, “No wise men, enchanters, magicians, or astrologers can show to the king the mystery that the king has asked, 28 but there is a God in heaven who reveals mysteries, and he has made known to King Nebuchadnezzar what will be in the latter days.” (Daniel 2:17-19, 26-28)

Life sometimes leads us to a dead end or a path that a decision has to be made or money has to come in for a living to be made, that is when God is on the scene MOST.

Daniel was facing adversities with King Nebuchadnezzar, when he was told that Babylon was going to see a hit of deaths by his hand if his dream was not interpreted. By doing this, Daniel, a man of bold faith stepped out and prayed before God KNOWING and BELIEVING He was going to reveal to him what the dream meant. That is where the first lesson of this passage is found, sometimes we come to Gods throne not believing with BOLDNESS that the Lord is going to do something then and there, but the TRUTH is He ALWAYS wants to do something BIG. Daniel was in broken-ness about what could happen to his people in Babylon, and what the King could do to them. But with FAITH, and a BOLD heart he started to pray. Life sometimes leads us to a dead end or a path that a decision has to be made or money has to come in for a living to be made, that is when God is on the scene MOST. Do you ever think during times of impossible situations and pure adversity, that God wants to HEAR about it, and YOU to believe it?

Daniel had this mentality, and what came was a beautiful praise because the Lord BLESSED his HEART. Before we get to the praise, let me tell you that God blesses and looks at our hearts in EVERYTHING. If your heart is not right (with Him, pure, why you are doing it) then the blessing will or will not come. Daniel’s heart was broken and was needing God to do something incredible, and the Lord saw that and BLESSED IT. What story does your heart tell the Lord? Does it lead to the beautiful praise that came from Daniels lips?

Adverse times lead to songs of praise. Right hearts lead to blessings to come. Boldness and faith lead to God’s ultimate workings.

“Daniel answered and said: “Blessed be the name of God forever and ever, to whom belong wisdom and might. 21 He changes times and seasons; he removes kings and sets up kings; he gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding; 22 he reveals deep and hidden things; he knows what is in the darkness, and the light dwells with him. 23 To you, O God of my fathers, I give thanks and praise, for you have given me wisdom and might, and have now made known to me what we asked of you, for you have made known to us the king’s matter.”” (Daniel 2:20-23)

Adverse times lead to songs of praise. Right hearts lead to blessings to come. Boldness and faith lead to God’s ultimate workings. All the enchanters, magicians, and everyone else who tried to interpret the dream of the King could not. But the one who could, put his FAITH in GOD or YAHWEH and his KNEES of the GROUND! Let adverse times not seem impossible, but let God be God and let Him work in the most stressful of times.

Small Things Grow Into MAJOR IMPACT…

People like to think that small things that we do to bless people are not doing anything or impacting anyone at all. People also think that the little things that we may constantly do to or for others, might never become something big. The truth is that we might never know if we have impacted anyone around us, but we can pray that it is blessed by the Lord and impacts others.

Impacting others through the small things is something that can be very challenging and also something that is a HUGE blessing. The challenging part about blessing others with constant small things is the battle to stay humble and pray that God is using whatever you may be doing. I have been sending people scripture of the day texts since I have become a Christian, and I never know which text is going to be the one where God uses me or the one that get deleted right away. Either way, there are many days that I just think that I am not doing anything but annoying the junk out of the people who I text. But then there are some days that God really shows me that my faithfulness to keep with it and the open heart to share what the Lord was speaking to me, that He would speak something even bigger in someone else’s. That is when the small thing, became something GOD-SIZED. Meaning this the enemy wants to take it away from you and make you not do it because he knows that it will bring the Lord glory in time. So fight through the battle of pride, and the feeling of you are just hitting a brick wall of nothing, because the truth is that you are doing something that will turn BIG!

The truth is that we might never know if we have impacted anyone around us, but we can pray that it is blessed by the Lord and impacts others.

Small blessings become a HUGE blessing, when we stop thinking about just ourselves and start thinking about what God can do through us in others. On this Earth there are over billions of people, and over millions of Christians that are either going through something like you or have insight about what you are going through. When we open up and start to humble ourselves and run toward the Lord, everything we do for others becomes an opening for the Lord to work. There are times in my day, that I have the opportunity to hold the door open or smile at someone, or even say, “How are you doing?” These three things look like they are very small things, but in reality they become HUGE over time. They become a door way for God to work in you or through you, after the constantly doing that same small blessing, and when the Lord comes through it will be HUGE. Do not let the small things that you do seem like nothing, because they are all ABLE to be USED by the LORD.

Do not let the small things that you do seem like nothing, because they are all ABLE to be USED by the LORD.
